I’m pretty sure I’ll get rejected from Berkeley, so hopfully Davis will accept me. My aunt told me I could go up to Washington for my senior year so I can apply for residency.. and she has an extra house near UW that I can live in. But since I don’t know if I’ll even get accepted.. I don’t think I will go up there..

I want to go to medical school to become a doctor. I live in Washington State so I am considering University of Washington as it is closer to my home and less expensive. It is also a really good school for medical students.
So I am wondering, should I even consider Ivy Leagues? Are they better than UW when it comes to medicine? If I get accepted into one, hopefully, should I pay heck of a lot more and go out of state? Or should I just settle for UW, a great school, and have a really good time living close to home?
What would you do?

specifically, what is the acceptance rate to medical school for the following universities: northwestern university, cornell, boston university, upenn and university of washington-seattle?

I heard the University of Washington has a TOP medical school, but it’s in St. Louis. Is it good to go to the one in Seattle instead? Because I hate the location of the actual med school.

I’m starting my pre req’s for medical school this year.
This is what it says on the University of Washington SOM website:

2010 Course Requirements

The premedical course requirements must be completed before matriculation
but preferably before the time of application. Undergraduate or
post/baccalaureate courses must be completed at a college or university
accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting body. Courses must
include a minimum of:

5 semesters of Social Sciences or Humanities.
6 semesters of Chemistry and Biology.
1 semester of Physics plus 1 semester of Calc

It’s going to take me until I graduate to get my General Univeristy Requirements, degree, and THIS pre-med stuff done.

Dont you apply after your JUNIOR year? Will this be a problem if I don’t have the pre req’s before applying?

I am currently looking at attending University of Washington Medical School, but I was just wondering if there was a school re known for its OB/GYN program?

What makes them so special? Please list any special traits in these schools, becasue I want to be prepared for college.
