Im curious that…for example if i get into Harvard for undergraduate, then does that mean I can go into the medical program in Harvard automatically or do i have to compete for admission just like students not in Harvard?

I’m not getting much help financially from my parents and don’t think I can take out a a huge loan for my undergraduate and a gigantic loan for medical school so I’m trying to see if I can cut costs. Has anyone else transferred to a med school from a CSU? Are my chances reduced because I didn’t go to a more selective UC?

Hi, I’m a senior in college and I’m considering applying to both medical school and graduate school for a possible Phd in biology or zoology. I have no yet decided which way I want to go. I don’t graduate until next year, but I was wondering if anyone knows if you must major in biology or zoology as an undergraduate to pursue it in grad school. I have a double major in Kinesiology and Life Science (a specialized degree in science that focuses on biology). I will have taken all the core science classes (chem, physics, calc, bio, biochem, ochem, etc). Would this satisfy entry into a biology or zoology program? I’m also aware of the necessary GRE.

I am currently a second year undergraduate with an intended biology degree. My grades have not been so great. I currently have a 3.0 gpa as of my second semester freshman year. Also, my best grades have come from my non-science classes. I’m not sure how much I can raise my gpa by the end of my senior year. Do medical schools look at senior year grades? I belive it is early enough to switch my major if I don’t think I can make it into medical school. Can students in my postition usually raise their grades enough to be considered for medical school? Also, if I were able to raise my gpa to around a 3.4, is that still not acceptable for medical school admission? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you

2010 Course Requirements

The premedical course requirements must be completed before matriculation
but preferably before the time of application. Undergraduate or
post/baccalaureate courses must be completed at a college or university
accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting body. Courses must
include a minimum of:

5 semesters of Social Sciences or Humanities.
6 semesters of Chemistry and Biology.
1 semester of Physics plus 1 semester of Calc

It’s going to take me until I graduate to get my General Univeristy Requirements, degree, and THIS pre-med stuff done.

Dont you apply after your JUNIOR year? Will this be a problem if I don’t have the pre req’s before applying?

If I attend University of Maryland as an undergraduate, typically what GPA and MCAT do you need to get into any medical school. What are some safe numbers, that would typically get you in to at least one medical school?

I’m a junior in high school and i’m starting to plan my future in college. I want to be a pediatrician so i’ll major in science my first four years of undergraduate, but I don’t know where I would go to medical school. I live in Alabama, and I know about UAB, but I want to go somewhere else. I think I could get a scholarship with my grades and test scores, so going out of school is an option, so what are the best medical schools in the south?

Im in my first year of college at NYU right now. If i do my undergraduate at NYU, is there any kind of advantage that i would have if i apply for NYU med school? I know there’s no single rule for these things, but any unofficial advice would be helpful.

If I dont take say Life Science in University for undergraduate; then how can i be allowed to go to Medical School?

If im not in the top percent of my class in H.S., but i am at a two year community college, and then i transfer to a florida state university, and maintain my top percent ranking as an undergraduate, what are my chances being accepted into harvard medical school?
