Could you tell me which of these universities has the best medical school/ school of medicine and why? Thanks. 2

UC Berkeley (CA)
UC Davis (CA)
University of Washington (WA)
Okay, Thanks.

I’m pretty sure I’ll get rejected from Berkeley, so hopfully Davis will accept me. My aunt told me I could go up to Washington for my senior year so I can apply for residency.. and she has an extra house near UW that I can live in. But since I don’t know if I’ll even get accepted.. I don’t think I will go up there..

medical school admissions? 1

I’m in my senior year of college and taking a high level biology course, I’m scared of ending up with a grade lower than a B and I am planning of dropping it. How would this effect my medical school admission status. The class will not be retaken due to the fact that it is an elective, I will be taking a different high level bio class.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

How important is clinical experience when applying to medical school? 1

I am currently in the first semester of my junior year of undergraduate college work, and I plan on applying to medical school next year to begin (hopefully) right after undergrad. I am told that it is crucially important to get clinical experience (working in a hospital etc) in order to be a competitive applicant, which I understand. I am not starting my clinical work until January, and some of my advisers told me that I should have at least 100 hours logged before the end of January to apply to med schools next year, but no where else says that I need that many hours that soon. One website even said that clinical experience could even begin the summer between your junior and senior year. So basically I’m just wondering who’s right? Is getting that many hours that soon really that important?

Just as an aside, I’m not looking at applying to Harvard med school or anything like that, the schools I’m looking at are slightly less competitive (relatively) than that.

Answers from current med students, other pre-meds, or even physicians would be greatly appreciated.

medical school math requirements help!!? 2

So I know many med schools require a year of math. I’ve already completed calc I and am planning to take calc II in the fall semester of senior year. My question is do I have to complete calc II before I apply to med school (ex: in the spring semester of this year) or can i be taking the class while I apply to med school? Thanks!

Admission into Medical School? 3

I’m very interested in going to medical school, and my advisor says I have a good chance and is very encouraging. However, a lot of my grades in the pre-requisite courses required to apply have not been so high. The reason for this is because they were all mostly freshman year, and I just simply did not do as well as I liked. However, I have improved dramatically, and all of my science courses *mostly upper divisions) that aren’t pre-requisites I have gotten A’s in. So how bad does it look that I didn’t get an A in General Chemistry or General Biology, but have gotten A’s easily in Advanced Medical Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Cell Biology, etc. My advisor says the improvement is very important, but I am still not sure. Also, I CANNOT re-take any of my pre-requisite classes. I take the MCAT May 31st, I’m pretty sure this will be the deciding factor, considering my past, do you agree? My overall GPA right now is a 3.45. (the past year and half have been 4.0’s) I
I am also not sure to apply for Fall 2009, with my current GPA. If I apply for fall 2010 (year after I graduate), I’ll have 1 year experience as a CNA, and a higher GPA since my senior year will be averaged in. (about a 3.55 or so)
Also, in the pre-requisite courses, I had about a B average including 1 C.

Madical School admisssion requirements? 2

Ok well i am a sophomore in highschool and i want to go to medical school, My GPA for my freshmen year was a 2.8 (I really slacked off), and my GPA for the first semester of softmore year is a 3.3. I did not take any science for my freshmen year but i am taking biology for my sophomore year, and i have a B+ right now. Can anyone give me advice on what i should improve and do to make my junior and senior year way better so i might be able to go to medical school? And what exactly is the GPA requirment to get into medical school?

When can I attend Medical school if I took the MCAT my senior year? 2

Instead of taking the MCAT the spring of Junior Year and I took it the spring of senior year, when could I attend medical school. For example Spring 2010 I took the MCAT, is it possible to start medical school fall of 2010 or would I have to wait till 2011 based on average admission deadlines?

Direct admission into Medical School? 1

Can anyone give me advice on how to get into those 6-year and 8-year direct admissions medicine programs straight out of high school? I am currently in the summer between junior and senior year so I do not have that much time to polish up my resumé but I was wondering if there was something quick I could do to improve my odds. I am planning to volunteer at the hospital to show my interest in medicine but I need more than just that to make myself stand out from the crowd and show that I desire a true interest in medicine. FYI I have a 3.71 GPA and 32 ACT score and am in 2 clubs at school. I unfortunantly have not done any sports =(.

I want to go into Pre-Med and eventually go into Medical School. Any advice for me? 1

I am in my Senior Year of H.S and I am planning to go into Pre Medicine. I want to major in Chemistry at Fordham University for undergrad. in order to go into Medical School. I want to go into Fordham because it has a descent reputation, which is somewhat important for Medical School. I know that Fordham University is not the best but Medical School look more at your gpa and MCAT scores, volunteer experience, research and shadowing… tell me something I don’t know. But what I’m saying is that, if I have a really good gpa and MCAT score will I be able to get into Medical School if I go to Fordham. Going into a top medical school does not really matter to me because I don’t want to go into research, I want to go into General Surgery because it is a field that not many people go into and I can take advantage of. Is there any one who is in medical school, a doctor or got accepted who I can stay in contact with. If you are, please give me your email, I would really appreciate it. Please give me any advice! I really want to become a medical doctor and any information could be helpful to me because I am not in college yet. Thanks.

What are my chances of getting into Medical School? 3

I am currently a second year undergraduate with an intended biology degree. My grades have not been so great. I currently have a 3.0 gpa as of my second semester freshman year. Also, my best grades have come from my non-science classes. I’m not sure how much I can raise my gpa by the end of my senior year. Do medical schools look at senior year grades? I belive it is early enough to switch my major if I don’t think I can make it into medical school. Can students in my postition usually raise their grades enough to be considered for medical school? Also, if I were able to raise my gpa to around a 3.4, is that still not acceptable for medical school admission? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you
