Is community college a bad choice if you want to become a doctor? Help? 4

I have options open, but I want to apply to community college to save money. However, I heard medical schools look down upon community college students because their science classes are relatively easier. I want to do two years of community college, then transfer to Harvard Medical School. What should I do? Should I get a free tuition at a community college or should I pay and go to a university? Please help. Any advice is appreciated.
Sorry, I mean transfer to a 4 year university and then apply for medical school.

Extracurricular activities for medical school? 1

I’m in my first year of college but am planning on going to medical school after i get my bachelor’s in biology.I hear that you should participate in extracurricular activities because it helps with admissions.I’ve never been much of an extracurricular person because i always worked (my parents don’t give me money they only pay for my tuition and stuff). I work part-time and its nothing near medical related. I’m just curious as to what extracurricular activities i should look into. I am planning on becoming a forensic pathologist if that matters.

PA degree to Medical School Question? 3

Basically my question is this: if a person was accepted into a PA school without a bachelor’s degree, and that person eventually made the decision to attempt to become a surgeon/ doctor, would the PA degree be sufficient to be accepted into medical school, or would he have to return to college and gain a bachelor’s degree to be accepted into medical school?

Here’s my personal situation if that helps.

I went into the military at age 19 to become a Pararescueman (USAF special operations) and was successful in my training. I was a PJ for 8 years and I loved the paramedic side of being a PJ so much, I decided to continue my education. I was able to get into PA school despite having only an associate’s degree because I had fulfilled all the required college courses as well as how much they valued my experience as a PJ, and I currently have just over 1 semester left with a GPA of 3.8. However, I’ve decided that a career as a PA isn’t quite what I want. As great as it is financially, money has never been a motivating factor for me, and I want the far greater range of practice and responsibility that comes with a full medical degree. I’m thinking I would prefer to be a surgeon, but I’ll make that decision as it comes.
So right now I’m stuck in the situation of being almost through my PA education and thinking that it may be useless, as medical schools invariably have the requirement of a bachelor’s degree, even though the PA where I’m studying is technically a masters/ graduate degree. So I’m trying to decide if it would be sufficient to just finish the PA program or drop it and start with the remaining 2 years I need for a bachelors degree. I have tried to contact some medical schools, but have not heard back, so if anyone knows the answer to this I would greatly appreciate it. I need to get on this pretty quickly to enroll this semester, if that’s the path I need to take.
Also, I understand I won’t get any "shortcuts" in medical school because of this degree, that’s not what I’m asking.

Thanks for any helpful answers. Normally I wouldn’t turn to Yahoo for information like this but I’m trying to get at least an educated opinion in case I don’t hear back from anybody that I know would have the answer.

My boyfriend just finished Medical School from Cornell University and I am worried about his salary? 6

My boyfriend just finished up medical school from Cornell University 2 1/2 years ago and is now in his last year of Residency. He is a Pediatrician and he does general medicine in the ER at the New York Presbyterian Hospital. He always claim to be broke and I have to give him money and stuff and show a lot of financial support for him. I never asked what he is making a month or year but I am curious to know, I mean him being a physician at a top hospital and being Ivy League educated it makes me wonder. He always claim paying back medical school takes most of his money but I don’t know. Do anyone out there think that they may have a clue at what "range" his salary might fall under. I don’t mind pulling him out of the financial hole or anything but I am just curious to where all of this Doctors financial earnings is going to? Any answer is appreciated…..thanks!

Would you go to HARVARD LAW SCHOOL or MEDICAL SCHOOL? 6

I can go to Harvard Law School. I’ll be getting paid about 0,000 at 25 yrs old. By 30 I’ll be making about 5,000 a year. All you do is work and sleep. LIFE IS STRESSFUL AND TOUGH BUT YOU MAKE MONEY YOUNG.

If I go to med school I won’t make money until around 31 but it’ll be well over 0,000. The hours will be my own and most likely I’d take Fridays off. LIFE IS RELAXED AND EASY BUT YOU MAKE MONEY LATE.

My parents are doctors so I know what it’s like. It’s pretty relaxed.

Will part-time enrollment affect grad school admissions? 1

I attend a Cal State and the tuition has gone up once again to a startling 58 a semester. I pay for school, books, gas to get from Alhambra, Los Angeles to Long Beach (since my parents won’t let me move), food, clothes…. At the rate I’m getting paid right now, if I work all summer, I’ll barely have any left over money after I’ve paid for tuition for Fall 2008. I’m considering enrolling as a part-time student and taking the rest of my classes at a community college. Will that have any affect on my chances of getting into medical school?

Should I apply to Harvard for medical school? 9

This is for Medical School. I’m already getting a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I have gotten straight A’s in every class, including classes like organic chemistry and physical chemistry, and all of the pre-med classes. I have a published research paper that I did and have done internships and currently working at a laboratory at NYU and work as a TA for one of my professors. Should I spend the money on the application fees and apply Harvard? Do you think I have a good enough chance? I would attend if I was accepted.
I intend to apply to other good med schools but I know how hard it is to get into Harvard even if you are highly qualified.

Question by Seek the Truth: What are good free medical universities in Germany that teach in English?
Hi,
I want to study medicine in Germany. I don’t speak Deutsche though! So can you please help me find a university that teaches medicine in English. I would like to attend a university that is free like the majority of universities in Germany

and it will be very helpful and greatly appreciated if you can also tell me about universities that offer medicine as a 4 year program!

I really really appreciate your help no matter how small it may be

Answer by EmZee
Hey, I have lived in Austria all my life (except right now) and I think that the only way you can get it “free” is by being a resident of the country. But all the tuition is covered by taxes which are dang high, and when you area a resident you have to pay them. At least, thats what people have told me while I lived there.
