-Im doing research, i volunteer, i shadow, i have networked with medical school admission officers, etc. etc.
-my GPA should go back up to a 3.5, i didnt do so well in Physics this semester, thats why it dropped
-I attend a HBCU (Historically black college and university) and I was considering going to maybe Howard or Meharry where they consider 3.0’s to be competitive
-Im african american, so do you think white schools will consider that into the equation if i get at least a 30 on the MCAT

I am currently a second year undergraduate with an intended biology degree. My grades have not been so great. I currently have a 3.0 gpa as of my second semester freshman year. Also, my best grades have come from my non-science classes. I’m not sure how much I can raise my gpa by the end of my senior year. Do medical schools look at senior year grades? I belive it is early enough to switch my major if I don’t think I can make it into medical school. Can students in my postition usually raise their grades enough to be considered for medical school? I have got a Bachelor degree in Natural Science (from the U.S). My overall G.P.A is only 3.1, premed grade varies from AB to C. I have done organic chemistry at Harvard extension school and got B+ and B-. Currently I got a first author title for a research paper from a major Boston Hospital and Harvard medical school. But before I got the news I came to Germany to learn the language, hoping that my chances for medical school admission would be higher…now half years has passed.. my language level is better, but is still not good enough for the language exam… should I continue or should I look into the medical school in Czech Republic * first Charles University Pague* Do I have chances to get into a german school? or should i switch gear and learn medicine in English in Czech Republic????? I am currently in my sophomore year and have had to withdraw from 4 courses, one of them being chemistry. I plan on taking them again and doing well, but I wanted to know it would look to a medical school admission board. I withdrew because my father became ill and I had to work two jobs. But things are better now and I quit one of them to focus more on school. But I may have to take chemistry in the summer, so I was also wondering how that would look as well. I’m majoring in Sociology but I’m also fulfilling the requirements for medical school since I want to ultimately go there after I graduate. I’m planning on graduating in four years but I noticed that I can graduate with a B.A. degree in Sociology and a B.S. degree in Biology if I do five years as an undergrad instead of four (by double majoring).

So the question is: Will going to college an extra year to get another degree help my chances for medical school admission? Or should I just take my sociology degree and save some time and money?
