Medical School . Where do I begin? 3

Medical School . Where do I begin?
So I am a junoir in high school with a 3.5 GPA and 1800 SAT.
I come from one of the top 100th public schools in the nation and can get into some pretty good undergrad programs. I want to have a general plan for my future though. I want to be a pschiatrist so Medical school will be in my future. I very much like New York city. I am extremley independent and I would have no problem going to CUNY Hunter or another cheap school, finding a roomate and getting an undergrad degree with all honors and a estimated GPA between 3.8-4.0. I want to go to a medical school in New york city. But, I could also go to a much better undergrad program , prob get a 3.7 without honors but more expensive. My family is pretty well off but I dont want them to pay for everything and if I went to a new york city school I could probably hold a job. I am very mature and can fit in with city life , dorms and all that college baggage I could live with but I can also live without.

My Uncle went to Columbia University so I might have a slight shot their. What should I do? Where should I begin? Should I go to a harder better undergrad program or a decent one that is cheaper in the city where I will probably got to medical school. I am from southern California and My uncle lives near new york and is a dentist(MD) .
I have some extra corriculars to:

CPR certification
Lifeguard
2 national titles
200 hours community service
And more……..

So what undergrad program seems like the best and smarter, better choice all around. When should I start studying for the MCATS and what are some good majors (pre-med/chem./bio ….)

medical school requirement? 1

i know that we need to take MCAT, and do bio, chem, physics, calculus as premed courses..but do we have to officially take the course in colleges? i mean…im majoring in psychology and sociology atm, and i dont want to change my majors, since i would have to stay in college for an extra semester. can i just take the sciences and math on my own timing? like…tutors etc?or do medical schools require official records of you taking natural sciences?

What are some preferred undergraduate majors for medical school, also GPA goals? (UCSD)? 1

I’m an incoming freshman to UC San Diego and I want to start early in my preparations for medical school. I’ve been around the hospital scene almost all my life and I truly believe this is the career for me.

Although it’s still pretty early for me, I heard the major I choose effects admissions to medical schoool, along with a MCAT score and GPA. I’m interested in an UC medical school and I already started volunteering in a hospital and have an internship for a UCSD biology research lab throughout my undergraduate studies. I want to go to UCSD, UCSF, or UCD for medical school.

What are some examples of majors I should be looking into if I want to get into these medical schools? Also what GPA should I be shooting for (I’m going to try my best in class regardless)?

Thanks so much

Inquiring Pre-med and Medical School information? 1

I am interested in becoming a pediatrician, but I’m not sure what are the best steps to make this happen. I am asking for opinions on pre-med schools in Texas(which are the top rated) and also what courses and majors are the most helpful and look the most impressive when applying to medical school. Any information can help.

Thank you.

can i get into medical school with a 3.3 gpa in aerospace engineering? 3

I will have completed the requirements for med school along with the requirements for a b.s. in aerospace engineering by this spring. I’m am sure that my gpa will remain at, or around, a 3.3.The last three semesters i will have completed on average 20 units and work about 15- 20 hours at my internship. what are my chances of getting into medical school. please, i know that a 3.3 would be considered low in some majors but due to the volume of work required in engineering do i have a chance of getting into medical school, and roughly what are my odds.

What are the best majors to have to enter Medical school? 4

I know that obviously Pre-med and Pre-medicine are good to have but I was just wondering if there were any other majors that would look well when entering a medical school application. Thanks.

Does anybody know a good medical school to go to in North Carolina? 2

I am going to be entering as a freshman into college and I have been looking for a good college that has nursing or pre-med majors, but a lot of the college search sites i go to don’t have many colleges that meets my requirements. so please help me if you can.

Does it matter what I major in before applying to medical school? 4

All of my advisers have told me to major in whatever I like. I have to choose exercise science and chemistry and have already completed the premed requirements (orgo, bio, etc.). I definitely do not have time to complete both majors.

A chemistry major will be much more challenging. I just want to know if the med schools will KNOW that it was more challenging and take that into account when they review my GPA, compared with students in less challenging majors.
