Are my credentials good enough for Harvard Medical School? 2

GPA 3.9, MCAT 33, double major in Biology and Psychology, Double minor in Chemistry and Humanities, Volunteered in a private Diagnostics clinic my first summer in college, volunteered with ophthalmologists from USC to fight an eye disease called Retinopathy of Prematurity in Armenia my second summer in college, and have done a research on rats and published an article about oral taurine supplementation preventing light induced damage in the rats’ eye retina during the third summer in college…. Please "professionally" evaluate these credentials and give me an advice…
P.S. I am an international student from Armenia, but my undergraduate degree is from Greensboro College, NC. Thanks, and please dont give me any book or chart references…I am just looking for a professional’s viewpoint (somebody who works/worked in an admissions office, or is somehow related to that entire process….)…Thanks again..
thank you!

Will my major hold me back from medical school? 4

I am applying to John Hopkins medical school, my MCAT scale score is 13, and my college GPA is 3.88. Despite the fact that I underwent the pre-med program, my major is Film and I will be receiving a BFA in Film Production.
Do you think my Film major will hold me back? Will an admissions officer look at my BFA unfavorably? I’ve heard Humanities are rather successful in getting into medical school, but I’ve never really heard anything about film. Thanks for future answers.

When I am done with my BA, I will not have all of the pre med classes, could I still get into medical school?? 6

I am graduating with a Psych. degree next spring, but I know now I want to go to medical school to be a neurolgist. The psych classes have shown me this is what I need to do. I plan to take the MCAT this summer. I have an excellent GPA and General Bio. and Chem classes and labs, Math, Stats, Organic Chem and Lab. I won’t have anatomy and will only have one semester of those listed above and physics. Could I possibly get into medical school without the full requirements?
My GPA btw is 3.88 and I have been told that your ACT score is comparable to your MCAT. I made a 31 on my ACT and a 34 in science in 2005. I will be graduating undergrad a year early if that helps me at all.
Okay the classes I have exactly are one semester each for:
Statistics(6 hrs)
Organic Chem and Lab (4 hrs)
Inorganic Chem and Lab (4 hrs)
Calculus(4 hrs)
General Biology and Lab (4 hrs)
and a year of English, History, Spanish, Humanities, and other Gen Ed classes. If I could take 4 hrs of Physics and 1 more class of Bio, Organic Chem, and Inorganic chem would that be enough.
Also does it matter what level the classes are, ex. My Chem are 105 and 107 not 201 and 202.

Medical School Admission? 3

I’m starting my pre req’s for medical school this year.
This is what it says on the University of Washington SOM website:

2010 Course Requirements

The premedical course requirements must be completed before matriculation
but preferably before the time of application. Undergraduate or
post/baccalaureate courses must be completed at a college or university
accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting body. Courses must
include a minimum of:

5 semesters of Social Sciences or Humanities.
6 semesters of Chemistry and Biology.
1 semester of Physics plus 1 semester of Calc

It’s going to take me until I graduate to get my General Univeristy Requirements, degree, and THIS pre-med stuff done.

Dont you apply after your JUNIOR year? Will this be a problem if I don’t have the pre req’s before applying?

Does majoring in humanities affect chances of getting into medical school? 1

I’m attending college this fall and I just find humanities much more interesting than science. For me, chemistry and physics are extremely boring. However, I still want to attend medical school but I want to major in Global Studies because I like traveling and learning about the world. At the same time, I will take all the pre-med requirements and the MCAT. Should I do whatever I want to do? Or do you think it would be wiser for me to just major in something like Biology?
Thanks

Do I meet the requirements for medical school? 3

I am a nursing major….bachelors

Here are all the courses I have/will be taking.

http://hsc.utoledo.edu/nursing/pdfs/Undergraduate%20Catalog%202007%20%28CON%29.pdf

(Page 9-10)

The College of Medicine has set minimum science requirements of one year each of biology, mathematics, physics, English and two years of chemistry, including organic chemistry. Additional biology courses are strongly recommended. Beyond these, concentration in humanities, sciences or other areas is equally acceptable. A bachelor degree is required.

What do I need in addition to my Nursing major to be able to be accepted? :)

Thanks so much.

Can you be admitted into medical school while still taking pre-requisite classes? 3

I am a post bac student going back to school to fulfil the medical school requirements. I have taken ONE year of both biology and inorganic chemistry and I have credit for physics. My BA was in Economics so I have plenty of courses in English, Math and the humanities already. I am taking the MCAT in a week and want to apply to schools so I dont lose a year. My question is can you be accepted into medical school while still short on Organic Chemistry? I will take it well before Med School, and I am a very good GPA since I have been back in school (GPA=4.0). If anyone can help that would be great, thanks…
