Does anyone have Medical School advice? 1

I am Currently a Junior at the University of Utah with a Dual BS in Biology and Psychology with a minor in chemistry and a Psychology Human factors certification. I wasn’t thinking about Med school until I saw that Psychiatry is a medical degree. My current GPA is 3.4 I am almost completed with my Biology segment and my Psychology classes will raise my GPA.

1) Do I need to take anatomy? (if the school’s requirements don’t specify this class? Is it on the MCAT?)
2) My extra-curricular and volunteer is a little low is it too late?
3) My Chemistry and Biology classes GPA is about 3.2 is that bad?
4) My Biology research has been 3 failed experiences and was wondering if medical school would accept psychology research as well?

Medical School Admission? 3

I’m starting my pre req’s for medical school this year.
This is what it says on the University of Washington SOM website:

2010 Course Requirements

The premedical course requirements must be completed before matriculation
but preferably before the time of application. Undergraduate or
post/baccalaureate courses must be completed at a college or university
accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting body. Courses must
include a minimum of:

5 semesters of Social Sciences or Humanities.
6 semesters of Chemistry and Biology.
1 semester of Physics plus 1 semester of Calc

It’s going to take me until I graduate to get my General Univeristy Requirements, degree, and THIS pre-med stuff done.

Dont you apply after your JUNIOR year? Will this be a problem if I don’t have the pre req’s before applying?

About Chemistry II AP and Biology II AP with medical school requirements? 1

Im a sophomore in high school in Texas. I want to go to UT and most likely UT med school. My friend at UT majoring in Human Bio told me that medical schools will red-flag you if you didnt do courses like chemistry and biology on a 4-year institution. I was going to take Chemistry II AP offered to me next year and take Biology II AP my senior year so i have less stuff to worry about in college and get a headstart. But my friends comment makes me wonder if i shouldnt take it. My friend also said that her friends took those courses in highschool but never took the credit and it helped them in college. Should i take those courses? If so, should i get the credit for college anyways? Or is it just a waste of time and should i just take high school classes such as anatomy? Or does it actually help you do better in college? And my friends mom(who is a doctor) took anatomny and told me that anatomy doesnt help you in the med. field, is this true?

Entrance to medical school, A level requirements in the UK, please help!? 2

I’m in year 11, my last year of secondary school, and very soon will need to be chosing which subjects to study at A-Level.
Ultimately, i wish to do medicine, so i will be taking chemistry and biology, but I’m just wondering as to whether or not i would be at a disadvantage if i didn’t carry Mathematics onto A Level.
Is there a less chance of me getting onto a medical course?
Do univeristies prefer mathematics?
P.S.
I’m expected an A* at GCSE, if this makes any difference?

Medical school requirements UK? 1

Im 16 and want to become a doctor. Could someone provide me with a link for the requirements for the medical schools in the UK because i know normally you need to take chemistry and biology at A level but i heard you need at least 6 A* at GCSE to get in. Is this true?
