Question by shireishi_midori: Has anyone heard of these medical universities? Sofia, Pleven or Varna?
I want to attend Sofia, Pleven or Varna Medical University in Bulgaria, Europe. Has anyone heard or know any useful things about the area and the schools? If so, you’re opinion would be greatly appreciated!

Best answer:

Answer by James P
There is a fourth school that also has an English language program: Plovdiv.

All four school are recognized by the WHO, so you could return to the US, take the USMLE and either complete a residency program here, or, if you completed a residency in Bulgaria, you could apply for licensure in the US.

I have had a brief conversation with a student who attended Sofia. Naturally, everybody brags about their school–but he loved it and the people.

You might want to look these schools up through the International Medical Education Directory: http://imed.ecfmg.org/

Question by Johnny: can you go to a medical universities even if you have 84 percent average.?
I have 84 percent average on my school and i want to be a doctor. Can someone tell me if i could still go to a medical universities. Do i need to get a good SAT scores and SATII biology scores. please reply so i could know. Thanks for your help..

Best answer:

Answer by wmayers99
I’m afraid that average would never get you into med school – but all is not lost. You have to complete four years of undergraduate study. Take biology in college, and ace those courses, and you may well stand a chance of getting into med school. Even if you were to do that, though, you’d never make it into veterinary college. Competition for vet school is cutthroat!
If you can’t quite manage med school, you could possibly take a PhD in pharmacy. They’re needed in all areas of medical research. And the title is still “Doctor”…
