Do med school admissions look into your high school records or are they only concerned with baccalaureate education and MCAT scores?
I am only a high school senior (don’t tell me I am too young to be looking for this info). I have been looking at different medical schools. And I have started to wonder what the difference is between medical schools.
Medical schools are ranked (primary care, research) by US News and World Report. What will I get out of going to Harvard (ranked 1st) that I won’t get out of Boston (ranked 30s) or Drexel (not ranked at all). Residency prospects? Salary? etc.
I’m looking into anasthesiology. I am considering accelerated med programs…but only mediocre ranked schools offer these programs. So…what is your advice? Go into accelerated programs (not high ranked med schools) or apply in college to top med schools (and risk getting rejected).
I am a senior in high school, and I got into both Goucher and Wells College, but both are 40,000$ a year, and I didn’t get any financial aid. Since it is so expensive, I am planning on going to community college, but I have heard some things about how medical schools don’t count / weight community college courses as less then 4 year university courses. I want to know, assuming I got the same grades, which would be better, taking my classes at a 4 year school or taking them at a community college and then transferring to a more prestigious school, such as UC Berkeley and then applying to medical school.
Thanks!
I’ve heard that New Zealand has lots of job openings for doctors and other professionals, what is the process and what are the requirements to get into medical school with a bachelor degree?
I have looked at tuition costs and I am trying to figure out, just from a financial standpoint, if paying a lot more to become an MD at a highly regarded school is worth it. Do you ever make up for the difference in cost of the tuition? Also, does graduating from a prestigious university make any difference in being able to choose your specialty– such as orthopedic or cardiac surgery?
In other words, why are people willing to pay a lot more to go to expensive schools, when you can become an MD from a less expensive program?
Thank you.
I was thinking of UNIVERSITY OF SAN FRAN but the cost is ,000+ yearly. -That’s a no’

Need Help – Medical School
Can someone guide me as to how i should proceed with medical school admissions.
I have Engineering degree from India and MBA from here (US).
I am really thinking about pursuing a career in medicine.
Can someone guide me on the process please.
What is the duration of the whole study?
What exams do i need to apply for?
I’m planning on being a Pediatrician.
The thing is, I love math more than science, but I still want to become a doctor. I am a bit torn at the moment. Oh the possibilities. But then this dilemma got me thinking: why not major in mathematics and research biophysics/genomics while I complete my degree. That way, I will be more well-rounded and be amply prepared for the MCAT examination. However, I have no idea to go about doing this (you know, better said than done). Does this sound like a good idea. Thanks.
